On Thursday, August 13, The Peninsula presents An Eve on the Green, an inaugural motoring gala celebrating the 100th anniversary of America’s legendary Route 66, starting from Chicago, where our sister property, The Peninsula Chicago marks its 25th anniversary, to Southern California, home to The Peninsula Beverly Hills as it celebrates 35 remarkable years. The evening offers an extraordinary dining experience under the direction of Executive Chef Bizet from our two Michelin-starred restaurant, L’Oiseu Blanc at The Peninsula Paris, followed by an exclusive headline performance from one of country music’s most celebrated entertainers delivering a spectacular finale to an unforgettable evening

Days 1-2 | Chelsea to the West Country

Arrive in London | A Chelsea Welcome

Settle into one of London’s most storied neighborhoods before the rail journey begins.

Arrive in London and make your way to The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, ideally positioned between Chelsea and Knightsbridge. The hotel’s warm residential style, literary history and discreet service create an elegant beginning to the experience.

Enjoy time at leisure to explore Sloane Street, stroll through Chelsea, linger over afternoon tea or simply unwind. Any hosted welcome arrangements will be shared with confirmed guests in the final program.

DAY 2 London Victoria to Bishops Lydeard | All Aboard

Board the Britannic Explorer and watch London give way to the landscapes of western England.

Make your way to London Victoria and step aboard your private suite. As the train departs in the afternoon, explore its elegant carriages and settle in for a Cornish Afternoon Tea inspired by the region’s finest ingredients.

Perhaps visit the Wellness Suite, enjoy a botanical cocktail in the bar or relax as the North Wessex Downs and Somerset market towns pass beyond your window. In the evening, gather for a masterful dinner, followed by music and drinks in the Observation Car before retiring to your suite.

Days 3-4 | Bishops Lydeard to Penzance and Fowey | The Cornish Coast

A slow morning on board, a spectacular coastal run and an afternoon shaped to your interests.

Begin at your own pace with brunch in the dining car or a restorative visit to the Wellness Suite. The train follows Devon’s celebrated Riviera Line, skirting Dartmoor and continuing through Plymouth, St Austell and Truro toward the luminous seas of west Cornwall.

After lunch, choose between independent time in St Ives with access to Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, or a guided visit to Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens with a private wine tasting overlooking St Michael’s Mount. Rejoin the train for a seasonal dinner and curated evening entertainment.

DAY 4 | Fowey to Bruton | Art, Spirits and Somerset

Spend the day between Cornwall’s maritime heritage and Somerset’s creative landscape.

After breakfast, choose a boat tour from picturesque Fowey or visit Colwith Distillery for a tour and tasting, with the option to curate your own flavored bottle of vodka or gin.

Later, travel aboard the train to Bruton for an after-hours private tour of Hauser & Wirth Somerset. Drinks and canapés await in Oudolf Field, followed by an exclusive dinner at Da Costa, where Veneto-inspired cooking meets exceptional Somerset produce. Return to the train for a peaceful final night on board.

Days 5-6 | A Graceful London Finale

Castle Cary to London | Return to Chelsea

Let the final miles unfold over breakfast before returning to your London residence.

Savor a farewell breakfast as the train departs the East Somerset Railway and travels toward London Victoria. The scheduled arrival is expected in the morning, giving you the rest of the day to settle back into The Cadogan and enjoy London at your own pace.

Use the afternoon for shopping, galleries, a quiet drink or a leisurely walk through Chelsea. Hotel check-in timing and any group arrangements will be confirmed in the final travel documents.
